Possibility of removing a renting card when it is already cancelled by tenant#93

It would be really nice if we could end a renting of one of our card when it’s already cancelled by the tenant.
It happens so many times that we can’t cancel our rental as a owner and our cards are put on the market at the end of the period but rented again and cancelled again by the tenant so we have never the time to cancel it ourselves.

This should be one of the higher priority things. You can lose access to your card for days very easily due to PM rental bids.

One wonders if it’s ONE bot owner who uses this obvious BUG and has done all the downvotes himself… bot owners are crafty like that. Specially with no one voicing why they think fixing this bug is bad.

Yeah this has been a major pain for me as a lender, especially recently a ton of accounts with name e.g. comeout123 or comeout768, do this thing where they cancel as soon as they borrow so I’m held hostage, causing a lot of stress especially at the end of season. I agree that it is likely a bot farm owner like this “comeout” person who has issued all the down votes.

No one is going to voice why it’s bad. They’re downvoting because they want to steal cards. Lots of people are happy to vote to steal other people’s stuff.

this is a must for upholding property rights and true ownership of assets.

At least solve some issues that are being pointed out by renters first (like unnecessary cancellation of rentals on the day of EOS) before fixing this one. Almost every improvement that was done is just in favor for owners of cards like the bidding system. I can’t blame those people doing this thing because they basically just outsmarted the owner of cards

“unnecessary cancellation of rentals on the day of EOS”

This is not unnecessary: EOS is the time when most lenders make their earnings for the season (most utility = highest price).

The game SHOULD favour owners first, because that’s how play-to-earn economies work. If you don’t favour assets, then they won’t be worth anything and you won’t earn anything of value as a player, whether you own or you rent.

A solution to the problem you raise could be to offer fixed rental terms, which was done in the past, but I suspect renters wouldn’t accept the terms because it would mean higher overall rental prices. This complaint really just screams “I want more for less!” rather than a bug or exploit in the marketplace.

The only thing that angers renters is that they could be willing to pay as high as lets say 300 dec/day for a 10k power 2 days before eos, but then, owners cancel it a day before eos. Wouldn’t that also be abusive given that the said price is already high but it was still cancelled. Us renters wouldn’t want to be stressed by renting again on the day of eos since people normally rent on the day of eos (This is what I’m referring to as unnecessary cancellation)

The reason that owners cancel it is because the market is paying a higher rate than they are currently getting; if the renter was paying market rate, they wouldn’t have their deal cancelled. That is simply market efficiency, and should be encouraged.

The issue being voted on here is an exploit because the owner is powerless to do anything with the cancelled card (they cannot change the price or remove it from the market). A renter who gets cancelled on can simply rent another card at the current market rate.

It’s not “unnecessary cancellation of rentals”. I paid 2.5k DEC last EoS in rentals, that’s the day that everyone needs power. All that happens while this exploit is in place is I have to call back my cards 3-4 days early if I want to make sure that I get them back. So there are thousands fewer cards for people to rent 1-2 days before the EoS unless they want to pay EoS prices for the cards that I want to rent out. If 100 people do that, then the prices are going to spike long before EoS, especially if the bigger owners do that.

You want to go back to the old system you petition for that. Then you have to go back to 7 day cooldowns. Which leads to higher card sale prices and higher rental prices, plus fewer cards on both markets.

The old system existed because people could do cheap rentals on day 1 of the season and then spend 2 weeks trying to fight level 8 card with level 1 cards. Everyone else waited a little bit. You could go up a few days early and pay slightly more in rentals, but only want to jump off a bridge for half a week instead of 2 weeks.

Or you waited until the last 2 days and paid massive rentals, but you could try to compete for leaderboards and had a really easy climb if you did that.

Any time the system makes me rent a card that I already own for three times the price I’m getting for it due to this exploit, I make a note to always rent the card for a high price or risk not renting it at all because the risk:reward isn’t worth it.
