Splinterlands needs to be more welcoming to new players - Allow players to earn DEC on Novice and Bronze 3 with limitations#439

I understand that making players unable to earn on these ranks was done as a way to make players less likely to invest an extra $10 into another account instead and more likely to invest those $10 into their main account. And I agree that it’s good for the game when the best investment is not to keep creating new accounts.

However, I think this is a big punishment to new players and it might make them run away from the game after seeing they can’t earn.

My suggestion is to allow accounts to earn DEC on those ranks, with some kind of limitation. It could be for a number of games, a number of wins, or, my favourite, up to X DEC. Let’s say it’s 50 DEC. That’s way less than the $10 investment. Those 50 DEC won’t be the reason anyone makes a new account instead of putting those $10 into their main one. What this does is allow new players to earn a bit and be able to start renting cards and allow them to reach 1000 power for Bronze 2.

On top of this, the game needs to be clear that there is this limitation, so players don’t feel cheated and some better guides/tutorials on how to play the game, how to rent, how prizes and ranks work, etc. This is needed if this game wants to grow. There are many players who don’t go searching guides on the internet. They just want to play the game.

100% agree. Please up vote the Achievement System, which addresses these issues

But, but… just invest another 10-15$ and you get easy bronze 1. I mean, look at those prices for some cards from Chaos Legion and newer Reward sets. Only new players don’t understand how much easier it is to be a new player today, than it was ever before in this game…

Z3ll yes but, for some people, investing $10 is already a lot. Not to mention that it’s all about getting people emotionally invested in the game. If they can’t do anything after putting the initial $10, how are they gonna stay? Do you really think 50 DEC per $10 is gonna break anything?
