Remove timer when picking brawl and tournament teams...#1315

K

Hey communtiy,

having a timer/countdown for ranked battles makes sense, since another player is actively waiting for you to submit your team.

However, for brawls and tournaments, I think the timer should be removed completely, since there’s no need to pressure the player to enter their team.

I’ve had more than one occasion, where the timer hit zero and I lost the battles, not due to lack of skill, but rather time running out.

What does the community think about this?

Best regards,

I like the idea.
At least one could increase the time given to build a team. Just recently I wanted to submit a team, but an error occured, the site was not loading. I could restart it and build a new team but there were only a few seconds left so that I didn’t manage to build a reasonable team. Especially such losses due to instability of the site would be avoided with more time to build one’s teams.
Also it would help human players as they are slower than bots in general which simply need to check their databases to find suitable teams according to the rule sets.

Actually, there is one more reason to increase the time: the number of available cards is always increasing with every new card edition (at least in “wild” tournaments), which means the process to select the suitable cards to build a team lasts longer and longer …

The timer isn’t there just to speed up ranked played though. The limited time is a part of the skill of the game. It’s a different game if you have as much time as you want to try and come up with a team. Players would be able to go ask for outside help or even more easily only rent the cards they need for the specific battles.

Well, @Jared Grubbs, I understand what you mean, but I wonder if even in case “outside help” should happen, that would be worse than “bot help” which happens all the time anyway? :-)
Where is the difference if I ask my neighbour or my bot? Well, the bot is faster. :)

I personally am not necessarily in favour of no timer at all but just to increase the time somewhat so that at least one has enough time to correct these typical site instabilities which - if happening at the ‘right’ moment - are responsible for quite some unneccessary losses.
Apart from that I always prefer thinking “deep” over thinking “fast”, but well, that’s just my nature. :)
